Life and work of Dr. Edward Jonas Domanskis (1945-2020)

Dr. Edward Jonas Domanskis born March 21, 1945, died August 8, 2020; beloved husband of Kiesha Domanskis, loving father of Andrew John Domanskis and Julia Alina Domanskis; brother of Alexander Rimas (Frances) Domanskis, proud uncle of Maria and John Joseph Domanskis; dear cousin and friend of many in Lithuania, Australia, Poland, and the United States. He received a B.S. from Loyola University of Chicago and an M.D. from University of Illinois College of Medicine. After completing his post graduate education at University of California, San Francisco, he served in the US Army as a Major and Assistant Chief of Plastic Surgery in Landstuhl, Germany. In 1978, he set up private practice as a board-certified plastic surgeon in Newport Beach, California. During his career, he served as the Chief of Plastic Surgery at Hoag Memorial Hospital in Newport Beach and South Coast Medical Center in Laguna Beach. He also served as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at the University of California, Irvine.

Ed was passionate about his work as a plastic surgeon and had great appreciation for the arts. His exceptional energy and creativity were noted in many areas of his life. He introduced his own organic, botanical, natural skincare line, Organoderm; designed and patented a unique pediatric tracheal tube in the shape of a heart; and produced a Cosmetic Surgery Video Series. He was the Founder and President of the American Society of Bariatric Plastic Surgery. 

After Lithuania regained its independence in 1990, Ed served for many years as a team physician for the Lithuanian Olympic team. He convinced Issey Miyake of Japan to design the Lithuanian Olympic uniforms for the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. He traveled to Lithuania to share his medical knowledge with colleagues and to perform many charitable operations. He was awarded commendation from the Lithuanian Government for his work with the Olympics as well as his charitable work. Ed was devoted to his wife and children and delighted in sharing his love of travel and adventure with them. 

Catholic Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at Pacific View Memorial Park & Mortuary, 3500 Pacific View Drive, Corona Del Mar, California. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lithuanian Children’s Hope, an organization Ed worked with to provide medical care to children with congenital abnormalities, burn victims, and others in need of plastic surgery.
