Lithuanian soil witnessed both the largest percentage of Jews killed during the Holocaust, including with the assistance of local collaborators, as well as the largest percentage in the Central and Eastern Europe of those who risked their lives to save their neighbors Jews.
On the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, #WeRemember the atrocities and the victims of the Holocaust and pay respect to those brave people who chose to risk their lives to save Jews, while many chose to remain silent and blind. Let the moral compass and decisions of the righteous inspire and guide all of us as we pledge never again.
As lighting of the candles is not allowed in the Southern California due to a fire hazard, the Consulate General of the Republic of Lithuania team visited the garden of the Righteous at the Holocaust museum L.A. to honor the victims and survivors of the Holocaust with the blossoms of daffodils. The shape and color of the daffodils represent the yellow stars that Jews were forced to wear during the Holocaust. Daffodils are resilient and return with a burst of color each spring, signifying hope, renewal and beauty and honoring those who survived the Holocaust. Yellow is the color of remembrance.
