On December 14th the Lithuanian school “Genys” celebrated Christmas. A festively decorated hall invited young and older children to enjoy the Christmas program. The director greeted all the children and their parents and encouraged all of us to continue learning Lithuanian and enjoy our Lithuanian traditions. Before we started our celebration, children sang the “We wish you a Merry Christmas” song in Lithuanian and invited Santa Claus, with his big bags of presents, to watch the program.

Our school fold and dance teacher, Vanesa Kaselionis, helped children to prepare for the plays “Pasiklydusios Pasakos” ir “Ropė”. Children sang, danced and acted. The kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade children sang and danced to the song “Vabaliukų dainelė per lietų” and did a wonderful job. Santa Claus was so amazed by everyone’s performance that he opened his bags and handed out many presents. There were many happy children. After the performance everyone gathered at the tables to enjoy delicious Lithuanian food.

We look forward to continuing celebrating Lithuanian holidays with the Lithuanian community in 2020.
