Netflix series Stranger Things shooting in Vilnius

The shooting of the 4th season of Netflix series Stranger Things started in Vilnius on Friday and will continue throughout the weekend.

As famous producer Shawn Levy explained, Vilnius in some aspects is better for filming than New York because of Vilnius’ uniqueness.

I have filmed movies in at least 15 countries, and I saw that the Lithuanian actors are as amazing as others. Professional, dedicated to work, talented, with a positive attitude and willingness to cooperate… I was impressed with the quality of work of the Lithuanian actors and creators who contributed to this filming, said Shawn Levy.

Lithuania has been attracting the global film industry’s attention for the past several years. That is due to local talents and quality of work, and to tax exemptions as well as exceptional shooting locations that Lithuania has to offer.

Vilnius Film Office and the central government’s attention to the country’s promotion among film creators could be named as another reason for the popularity of the country. Last year, Netflix filmed a detective series Young Wallander in Vilnius and the US cable TV giant HBO filmed award-winning mini-series Chernobyl.
