Nijole Glaze, M.D. is now performing the Abbott diagnostic SARS-Co-V-2 (Covid-19) antibody test. This test identifies antibody, a protein that the body produces in the late stages of an infection that may remain for months and possibly years after person has recovered.
Antibody is an essential next step in process of figuring out how to deal with virus. Knowing whether or not someone has been previously infected will give us better understanding of COVID-19, including how long the antibodies stay in the body, and if they provide immunity. This knowledge will help in the development of the much needed treatments, including vaccines.
