Dear fellow Lithuanian Americans,
Lithuanian intelligence services recently published their National Threat Assessment 2026. This annual report assess threats and risks to Lithuania’s national security, including:
As these threats continue to affect our friends and family members in Lithuania, we are not immune in the United States. These same malicious actors affect our daily lives in America. That is why we are supporting the „Baltic Security Assessment Act”.
This bill reaffirms security and economic ties between the U.S. and the Baltic States and requires our government to assess emerging military, cyber, hybrid, and political threats to the Baltics from actors, such as China, Russia, Belarus, and Iran. Such a report would recommend enhancements to U.S.-Baltic defense cooperation, cybersecurity infrastructure, and resilience, including through the Baltic Security Initiative, which just became law.
The Baltic Security Assessment Act has broad support in the House of Representatives as H.R. 5543, and Senators Durbin (D-IL) and Grassley (R-IA), who lead the Senate Baltic Caucus, just introduced the same bill in the Senate, S. 4139.
I ask you to click the link below and reach out to your Members of Congress to support the Baltic Security Assessment Act. Thank you for standing up and speaking up for Lithuanian security and defense!
Best regards,
Edita Buzėnienė
President, Lithuanian American Community
