Lietuvos Dukterų Draugijai jau 50 Metų!

Birželio 27 d. per kasmetinį paramos renginį Sietlo Lietuvos Dukterų draugija atšventė gražų 50 metų jubiliejų! Tai Vašingtono valstijoje registruota ne pelno organizacija. Pati Lietuvos Dukterų draugija įkurta 1959 m. Čikagoje, norint padėti nepritekliuje gyvenantiems lietuviams imigrantams; Čikagos skyrius iki šiol lieka organizacijos būstine, o JAV šiandien veikia penki skyriai. Visi jie teikia paramą lietuvių kilmės vaikams, neįgaliesiems ir vyresnio amžiaus žmonėms tiek Amerikoje, tiek Lietuvoje. Nuoširdžiai dėkojame visiems, kurie atvyko kartu pasidžiaugti, ir ypač tiems, kurie taip dosniai paaukojo daiktų loterijai bei užsirašė prisidėti prie Mėnesio skanėsto.

Per šventę išrinkta ir nauja valdyba: pirmininkė Aušra Vaštakienė, sekretorė Vilma Činčienė ir iždininkė Rima Kulikauskas. Sveikiname ir linkime joms energijos, gražių sumanymų ir prasmingų darbų!

O štai ir smagiosios naujienos: Mėnesio skanėsto loterijos laimėtoja tapo Aušra Vaštakienė! Koks gražus sutapimas: kaip tik dabar, kai ji imasi šių pareigų ir rūpinsis bendruomene net sunkesnėmis akimirkomis, ateinančius metus kas mėnesį bus palepinta ir ji pati. Pats laikas pamaloninti tą, kuri rūpinasi visais. O ir šaltibarščių čempionatas nenuvylė: tikrą šedevrą pristatė Vitalija Ringytė-Lapaitė. Sveikiname!

On June 27, at its annual fundraiser, the Daughters of Lithuania, Seattle Chapter celebrated a wonderful milestone: 50 years! The chapter is a small non-profit registered in Washington State. The Daughters of Lithuania were founded in Chicago in 1959 to help Lithuanian immigrants in need; the Chicago chapter remains the organization’s headquarters, and today there are five chapters across the U.S. Together they provide charitable aid to children, the disabled, and the elderly of Lithuanian descent in both the U.S. and Lithuania. A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us, and especially to those who so generously donated items for the raffle and signed up to contribute a Treat of the Month.

A new board was elected during the celebration: president Aušra Vaštakienė, secretary Vilma Činčienė, and treasurer Rima Kulikauskas. Congratulations, and we wish you energy, great ideas, and many good things ahead!

And now the fun news: the Treat of the Month raffle winner was Aušra Vaštakienė! How fitting: just as she takes on this role caring for the community through its harder moments, she’ll be the one treated, every month, all year long. It’s the perfect time to spoil the person who looks after everyone else. The šaltibarščiai contest was a hit, too, with Vitalija Ringytė-Lapaitė serving up an absolute masterpiece. Congratulations!
