Baltijos kelio minėjimas Sietle

Dalijamės akimirkomis iš mūsų gražaus susibūrimo Sietle, kur kartu paminėjome Baltijos kelią — vienybės, ryžto ir taikaus pasipriešinimo simbolį. 1989 m. rugpjūčio 23 d. apie du milijonus estų, latvių ir lietuvių susikibo rankomis ir sudarė 675 km gyvą grandinę nuo Talino iki Vilniaus, taip primindami pasauliui savo teisę į laisvę. Netrukus — 1990–1991 m. — buvo atkurta nepriklausomybė.

Mūsų bendruomenė susirinko prie Drumheller Fountain, kartu nusifotografavo, o vėliau tęsė renginį Mary Gates Hall su trumpa paskaita ir vaišėmis. Buvo nuostabu matyti tiek daug žmonių, susirinkusių pagerbti šią ypatingą dieną.

Ačiū kiekvienam, kuris atėjo, prisidėjo ir dalijosi šia prasminga akimirka.

Thank you to everyone who joined us this weekend to honor the Baltic Way — one of the most powerful symbols of unity and peaceful resistance in our history. On August 23, 1989, about two million Estonians, Latvians, and Lithuanians joined hands to form a 675 km human chain from Tallinn to Vilnius, showing the world our shared determination for freedom. Soon after, in 1990–1991, independence was restored.

Our Seattle community came together with that same spirit — gathering at Drumheller Fountain, taking a group photo, and continuing with a short lecture and refreshments at Mary Gates Hall. Your presence, your energy, and your pride made this commemoration truly special.

A heartfelt thank‑you to everyone who attended, helped organize, and shared in this moment of remembrance. It was beautiful to see our community stand together — just as our nations once did — in unity and celebration of freedom.
