Run in Honor of Lithuanian President Adamkus 100th Birthday

On November 3, 2026, Lithuanian past President Valdas Adamkus will turn 100.

To honor 100 years of a life that connected Lithuania and America, Lithuanian ultramarathon runner Aidas Adzijauskas will run across the entire United States.

This is The Centennial Run.

On September 15th, Aidas will start at the Pacific Ocean in San Francisco. He will run miles through California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia and Virginia – until he reaches Washington, D.C.

Approximately 3,100 miles (5,000 kilometers).

More than 60 miles every day.

Around 55 days on the road.

This is The Centennial Run.

The run will be filmed for a documentary about endurance, about the friendship between Lithuania and the USA, about Lithuanian-American communities, and about a President who spent most of his life in America before returning to lead a finally free Lithuania.

WHO AM I?

I happen to be Aidas Adzijauskas – one of Lithuania’s most enduring ultramarathon runners – a man for whom impossible does not exist.

This time he is not running for a medal. I am running to say thank you to President Adamkus, who showed us what it means to never forget your homeland.

THE RUN WILL BE FILMED

The entire run will become a documentary film. Our crew will follow Aidas with cameras and drones – the route will take him through deserts, mountains, small towns and major cities.

Along the way, he will meet American-Lithuanian communities and people whose own stories connect Lithuania and the United States.

Every mile will become part of a larger story — about endurance, identity, gratitude and the meaning of home.

WHY WE NEED YOU

The Centennial Run needs a support team, an RV, fuel, a safety crew, and a film crew to tell this story.

Every donation – large or small – will help. All funds will be used only for the run and the film. Any remaining balance will be donated to the Alma and Valdas Adamkus Charity Foundation.

The Alma and Valdas Adamkus Charity Foundation supports educational, cultural and civic initiatives, fosters youth development, and contributes to the well-being of society in Lithuania.
